Namun bila konsumen jeli, ada beberapa hal yang membedakan antara komponen asli dan palsu, salah satunya adalah dengan memperhatikan kualitas material spare part palsu yang biasanya kualitasnya tidak sebagus barang yang asli.

Kualitas spare part yang tidak bagus ini menurut Justrisiari sungguh berbahaya untuk konsumen. "Di beberapa kasus kualitas spare part yang tidak bagus ini menjadi penyebab timbulnya kecelakaan," tandasnya.

"Lalu dari harga, komponen palsu biasanya tidak jauh beda namun sedikit lebih murah dari harga komponen aslinya," lanjut Justisiari.

Adapun komponen-komponen yang biasa dipalsukan menurut Justisiari biasanya meliputi komponen-komponen fast moving seperti busi, saringan udara (air filter), saringan oli (oil transmission filter) dan kanvas rem yang kemasannya
menggunakan merek Toyota.

Suku cadang palsu itu semua memang juga menggunakan kode barang seperti halnya komponen asli, tapi tampilan kodenya ringkih dan mudah hilang.

Nah biasanya lagi, penjual komponen palsu merek Toyota itu menurut Justisiari tidak berani memberikan garansi resmi Toyota dan hanya berani memberikan garansi toko kepada para pembelinya.

1. Kemasannya sangat mirip atau bahkan sangat menyerupai dengan kemasan Toyota Genuine Parts tetapi isinya adalah barang tiruan.
2. Pada suku cadang imitasi yang sangat menyeruai asli, apabila diperhatikan dengan teliti wujud fisiknya tidak sebagus Toyota Genuine Parts.
3. Untuk suku cadang imitasi yang sangat menyerupai, harga yang ditawarkan tidak terlalu jauh denganToyota Genuine Parts, misalkan Toyota Genuine Parts dijual seharga Rp 100 ribu maka suku cadang palsunya dijual seharga Rp 75 ribu.
4. Suku cadang non Toyota Genuine Parts  menggunakan merk dan kemasan yang menunjukkan identitasnya sendiri.
5. Suku cadang non Toyota Genuine Parts pembuatnya sama dengan pembuat Toyota Genuine Parts. Hal ini terlihat pada suku cadang imitasi tidak terdapat logo atau merek Toyota.

Produsen mobil Jerman Daimler yang memproduksi Mercedes-Benz sedang dituntut di Amerika Serikat (AS) atas dugaan praktik penyuapan pejabat di 22 negara, termasuk Indonesia. Di Indonesia, uang dari Daimler ternyata masuk ke Perum Damri.Data ini diungkap dalam berkas tuntutan setebal 76 halaman dari US Departmen of Justice (Depkum HAM AS). Data ini memuat berbagai praktik suap Daimler di 22 negara dalam rentang waktu 1998-2008, termasuk di Indonesia.

"Di Indonesia, perusahaan Daimler setempat diduga memberikan uang US$ 41.000 untuk hadiah para pejabat dari perusahaan bus milik negara, Perum Damri," demikian kutipan berkas tuntutan seperti dilansir The Guardian, Kamis (25/3/2010).

Belum ada keterangan lebih jauh, pada tahun berapa penyuapan terjadi. Siapa pejabat yang menerima suap pun belum disebutkan dengan jelas. Laporan itu hanya memberikan detil hadiah dari Daimler.

"Untuk keanggotaan klub golf, hadiah pernikahan dan hadiah lain untuk mendapatkan kontrak di Indonesia," demikian penjelasan tambahan dari berkas itu.

Mercedes buatan Daimler memang tidak melulu mobil mewah. Daimler juga memproduksi truk dan bus. Apakah Daimler sedang ikut tender pengadaan bus? Hal itu pun belum dijelaskan dalam berkas tuntutan Depkum HAM AS.

Selain Indonesia, para pejabat negara-negara besar disebutkan terlibat dalam praktik menerima uang suap itu. Misalnya saja Rusia, China, Mesir, Turki, Thailand. Semua demi memuluskan tender-tender Daimler dengan pemerintah negara tersebut. Daimler pun dilaporkan akan membayar denda hingga US$ 180 juta untuk menghindari tuntutan hukum. Rencananya persidangan akan dimulai pada 1 April 2010.
